Supporting youth climate action

The Youth Climate Action in Toronto (Y-CAT) project is developing a strategy for the City of Toronto to support broader youth engagement in climate action and, at the same time, we’re also an action research project funded by the University of Toronto.

We want this project to support and amplify the work that young people in Toronto are already doing so we’re co-designing and co-delivering the project with youth climate organizers, youth-led organizations, and youth-focused organizations.

Learn how to identify and challenge organized climate obstruction and become powerful climate advocates! We had the best time at our Move, Play, and Connect on Climate event!! 🏀🏸🤸 Are you a youth in middle or high school? Or an educator of middle or high school students? Are you interested in engaging directly with decision makers to help shape Toronto's future? We had a truly amazing time with local youth at our Defending Democracy workshop, with @lakeshorearts , @climateemergencyunit, and @grace.nosek. In the workshop, we discussed how art and storytelling are critical pieces of the climate action puzzle and how youth storytellers are driving climate action. We learned to call out false and unhelpful stories on climate change and protect the everyday conversations that are key to our democracy and our future. Ultimately, we made some art to call others into the climate movement in powerful and generative ways. We had a magical night at our event “Finding Purpose, Nourishment, and Solidarity in the Age of the Climate Crisis” back in October ✨.
